KHCDT -Who We Are

The KEFESO Host Community Development Trust (KHCDT)

The Trust was established as a strategic vehicle to foster inclusive and sustainable development within our host communities. Rooted in the principles of equity, transparency, and accountability, the Trust serves as a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life for the people in the communities directly impacted by resource extraction and energy-related operations.

Our mission is to ensure that host communities are not only stakeholders, but beneficiaries of meaningful development. Guided by the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and other relevant frameworks, the Trust is designed to channel resources towards education, infrastructure, health, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship creating real and lasting value. Through a collaborative approach involving community representatives, industry stakeholders, and development experts, the HCDT works to identify local priorities, deliver impactful programs, and promote shared prosperity. Our governance model is built on integrity and inclusiveness, ensuring that every intervention reflects the voice and aspirations of the communities we serve.

KHCDT, a symbol of true communal partnership and progress-gap bridging.

We are a community-centered institution dedicated to fostering inclusive growth, sustainable development, and social investment in communities hosting extractive and energy operations. Established in alignment with the
Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and global best practices, the Trust is a forward-thinking platform for ensuring that host communities receive lasting socio-economic benefits from the resources within their environment.
Transparency and accountability

We operate as a transparent and accountable body, driven by the principles of local empowerment, participatory governance, and sustainable impact. By directly involving community representatives in decision making, planning, and implementation, KHCDT ensures that development projects reflect real community needs and priorities.

Our focus spans critical areas such as education, skills development, health care, infrastructure, environmental protection, and enterprise support. These interventions not only meet immediate needs but also to build long-term resilience and opportunity for the future. More than a statutory obligation, KHCDT represents a shared vision, where communities are impacted and engaged. We are building trust, unlocking potential, and creating a legacy of progress.
